"Kenya" is a very special Min Pin who holds a lot of meaning to me. She was an incredible gift from a dear friend and as such, she needed an extra special name. Her name Kenya comes from Kenya, Africa a country located in East Africa which I have been blessed to go on mission to with my church, both in 7/2004 and 7/2005. The Kenyan people were hungry for the gospel and hold a special place in my heart. When it came to naming my very special puppy, she need a name of significance. Kenya is not just my 'pet' but my very dear companion. When Kenya was 5 months old she became very ill and I rushed her to my vet who took excellent care of her, but while she was there they placed her on a heater to maintain her body temperature which had dropped too low. In an extremely rare occurrence, the heater gave Kenya 2nd and 3rd degree burns over most of her belly, left side, and a small area on her right side. Kenya bravely battled the pain, while remaining a wonderful, loyal, happy, cheerful, loving dog even though she was in terrible pain and had to undergo weeks and weeks of burn treatment. With her exceptional temperament, good conformation and wonderful disposition we knew she was the kind of Min Pin female which would have superior puppies. Although due to the scarring from her terrible ordeal Kenya could not be shown, she easily could have and I knew she'd produce show ring quality puppies as well as fabulous family pets! Kenya a a medium sized Min Pin within the show guidelines for height and weight. She is our biggest Min Pin in the family, at about 11 1/2" at the shoulder and weighing about 8.5lbs when not pregnant with puppies.
