stallions Homozygous tests available to anyone who requests to view
it. We do not breed our stallions only because they are black or because they are homozygous.
They have
been bred and selected by TDR for their excellent
temperaments, athleticism and for their unique ability to produce gorgeous, correct,
athletic foals
consistently on all types and breeds of mares. We STRIVE for superior QUALITY
in our breeding and show horses ~ something very hard, if not
impossible to find with just a "color" breeder! |

Our stallions have been tested
recessive for the
Agouti (bay gene),
thus genetically ensuring you that they are TRUE BLACKS and our
Homozygous Black stallions are GUARANTEED to NOT
produce a chestnut foal. We
highly recommend you VERIFY any stallion's homozygous test results that
you breed to. There are many stallions claiming to be BLACK but they in
fact, carry the Agouti gene and are a dark, black-bay.
Homozygous:
means they have two identical copies of the same gene for color
{Black}. If in doubt about a stallion's
homozygous status, PLEASE request copies of their Homozygous test.
A stallion CAN BE homozygous for black and
be a BAY (or even grey) in color. There are many bays that are such dark
bays (frequently called 'black-bay') that they even appear to be 'black'
but are genetically bay and they in fact carry the Agouti gene (also
termed the 'bay' gene as it is responsible for the bay coloring). Bay horses and grey
horses CAN BE Homozygous for black and not be black themselves!
If a horse carries the Agouti gene
they ARE A BAY, no matter how 'black' they appear - CHECK the test report to ensure
the BLACK stallion is stated to be recessive for the Agouti gene,
otherwise you are breeding to a BAY stallion not a true black no matter
how 'black' they appear.
